IDEX – Extends agreement with major semiconductor manufacturer
The agreement with a major electronics and semiconductor manufacturer announced in 2009, has been extended.
The programme is aimed at assessing the manufacturability, cost and commercialization of the SmartFinger® sensor intended for high volume markets, such as mobile phones. Both companies have allocated resources into the program; IDEX with a responsibility to provide the SmartFinger® sensor design and intellectual property, while the semiconductor partner will establish a manufacturing process and deliver components. The final decision on further commercialization will be taken later this year.
“This is an extension to an important agreement. We are targeting several high volume markets for our award winning fingerprint technology. We are delighted that a major player in the semiconductor market continues allocating substantial resources into optimizing our fingerprint sensor technology to their high volume manufacturing processes,” says Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX.
The agreement runs until the end of 2010, during which period the project deliveries will be evaluated and the companies will plan the next stages of the programme.
