IDEX enters into cooperation agreement with Embedx
IDEX ASA has entered into a cooperation agreement with Embedx Corporation for integration of the IDEX SmartFinger Film into cards and biometric readers designed by Embedx.
IDEX ASA has entered into a cooperation agreement with Embedx Corporation that forms the basis for integration of the IDEX SmartFinger® Film fingerprint sensor and biometric algorithms into thin and pliable ISO-format cards and associated readers designed by Embedx.
Embedx, based in Atlanta, Georgia, engineers, designs and manufactures one-time password cards, biometric security cards with fingerprint sensors, biometric readers and powered stored-value cards for commercial applications.
“IDEX is proud to have established an alliance with Embedx. The Embedx team has many years of experience in the design and sales of intelligent cards and biometric readers and will be a significant contributor to the success of the SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor in the market,” said Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX.
“The IDEX sensor provides significant value for biometric security in ISO-standard card formats. Embedx has successfully integrated the sensor with several microprocessor platforms and results have been beyond expectations,” according to John Gregory, Chief Technology Officer of Embedx.
The agreement defines specific cooperation milestones for development, testing and verification. Final qualification of Embedx’ biometric cards with IDEX SmartFinger Film sensors integrated is expected in 2012.
After a successful qualification, it is the intent of Embedx and IDEX to enter into a commercial agreement whereby IDEX will supply SmartFinger Film sensors to Embedx.
