IDEX at Cartes Paris 2011

IDEX debuts SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor technology at CARTES Paris 2012.

Oslo, Norway, 7 November 2012:  IDEX ASA today announced it will be demonstrating the usability and outstanding performance of its award-winning SmartFinger® Film fingerprint sensor technology at CARTES & IDentification Exhibition and Conferences 6-8 November 2012 in Paris, France.

During the last six months Idex has experienced a strong demand from the market for its fingerprint technology. This is the final confirmation of mass adoption of fingerprint biometrics, and represents a game changer within secure mobile payments, mobile banking, online commerce ID and access.  IDEX is also seeing strong interst for fingerprint biometrics on contactless biometric cards, cloud security and Internet of Things (IoT).

IDEX is one of very few players with early, unique and core IP in t biometrics.
We’re also seeing traction for

SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor
The patented IDEX SmartFinger Film sensor is an ultra-thin and pliable fingerprint sensor, based on state of the art polymer technology. It has low power consumption and offers superior biometric performance. The SmartFinger Film fingerprint swipe sensor can be easily implemented into a variety of applications requiring biometric authentication such as one-time password devices, smartcards, ID cards, mobile phones, access control devices and biometric tokens. The technology is protected by multiple patent families covering subjects such as sensing principles, sensor component design, image processing algorithms. Combining the extremely small software footprint with low-resource microcontrollers and the thin and bendable form factor, IDEX is able to offer a complete biometric authentication solution tailored specifically for card and mobile phone applications.

SmartFinger Secure Processor software
In addition to the  demonstration products, IDEX will be showing the SmartFinger Secure Processor (SSP), a complete embedded authentication software solution preinstalled on a microcontroller within a stand alone biometric authentication module. The SSP interfaces the fingerprint sensor on one side and the system controller on the other. It does all the processing required to acquire fingerprint images, build and store a small database of enrolled fingers, and match images against the database. This complete embedded biometric authentication solution provides a faster time to market for systems using biometric security.

The SSP software is implemented on a standard Cortex/M3 microcontroller. Communication is encrypted, and there is a choice between various interfaces. The SSP can be delivered with a combined sensor, or as part of a complete biometric module.

SmartFinger Evaluation Kit
IDEX will also be showing a new Smartfinger evaluation kit for customers who wish to evaluate the Smartfinger Film fingerprint sensor. The evaluation kit connects to any Windows PC via a USB port and  allows for finger print enrollment, verficaton and match.
