IDEX showcases leading-edge glass fingerprint sensor technology demonstrator for mobile applications
Barcelona, Spain 24 February 2014: IDEX ASA, a world leader in fingerprint imaging and recognition technology, is proud to demonstrate the first glass fingerprint sensor at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Following the last year’s Mobile World Congress, where IDEX presented the technology concept, the company is now able to demonstrate operation of its glass fingerprint sensor solution to key partners and mobile OEMs at the Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona 24-27 February.
“This demonstrator represents a major breakthrough for fingerprint sensor solutions, and represents a key step of IDEX’s roadmap towards the ultimate solution for mobile fingerprint sensing, where the sensor will become an integral part of the mobile device’s cover glass”, says Dr. Hemant Mardia, CEO of IDEX.
The fingerprint sensor presented is based on IDEX patented principles and knowhow, separating the finger interface from the electronics, as well as unique concepts enabling sensing in virtually any material such as glass, polymer and silicon. The sensor demonstrator has a form factor of a home button inserted into hand-set cover glass.
At Mobile World Congress, one of the world’s largest and most important trade fairs for the mobile communication industry, IDEX is also demonstrating its new fingerprint touch sensor product. This is the smallest sized touch fingerprint sensor on the market outside Apple’s TouchID and has been launched into the market, in collaboration with our partner, to meet near term mobile customer demand.
These two achievements manifest IDEX’s innovative product roadmap for mass market fingerprint sensors, delivering on our strategy of best-in-class solutions and optimal user experience for the mobile industry.
