IDEX presents at the Transatlantic Science Week conference at Berkeley

Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX, will today give a lecture about biometric cards at the Transatlantic Science Week conference at the University of California Berkeley.

Oslo, Norway, 27 October 2011: At the tenth annual Transatlantic Science Week conference, IDEX CEO Ralph W. Bernstein will give a lecture on biometric cards and the multiple mass-market uses of such cards.

Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, Minister of Research and Higher Education Tora Aasland and Minister of Trade and Industry Trond Giske are among the participants at Science Week. In addition to the main programme at Berkeley, there are activities at Stanford University and also at technology centers of IBM Google and NASA.

IDEX has developed the award-winning SmartFinger ® Film technology platform, which enables embedding fingerprint sensors and software into small and bendable devices, for instance in a credit card format.

Significant recognition
“It is an encouraging and also significant recognition of the work we do at IDEX that we have been invited to present our technology and our future prospects to possible cooperation partners and customers in industry, government and academia,” said Bernstein.

Several hundred attendees have joined the conference, which started on Tuesday and ends today, Thursday. This year’s theme is Innovation Frontiers. Science Week is organized in cooperation with the Norwegian foreign service and is an important meeting place for researchers, business leaders, politicians and others who work with innovation, research and higher education in the United States, Canada and Norway.

Technology cluster
Bernstein adds that the venue of the conference in the San Francisco Bay Area in California is a source of inspiration.

“In this area, which includes the Silicon Valley, there are outstanding universities and many leading technology companies, both big and established as well as small and dynamic. I have made important contacts and exchanged interesting views and perspectives that are useful for IDEX,” Bernstein added.
