IDEX enters into agreement with UINT

IDEX ASA has entered into a cooperation agreement with UINT for integration of SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor and biometric algorithms into UINT designed security products and solutions.

Oslo, Norway, 22 June 2011: IDEX today announced that it has entered into a cooperation agreement with UINT whereas UINT intends to incorporate IDEX SmartFinger® Film fingerprint sensor and biometric algorithms into a powered thin and bendable electronic banking card compliant to ISO standard.

UINT with its head office in Orsay, France and a branch office in Shanghai, China, aims to be a leader in embedded electronics in various powered devices especially ISO-format cards. UINT offers powered inlay technologies and flexible circuitry with electronic components. The company performs engineering R&D and related services, and secure electronics information exchange platforms.

“IDEX is delighted to be working with UINT who has a team of experienced industry professionals with a long history of biometric technology expertise,” says Ralph W. Bernstein, chief executive officer of IDEX.

The agreement defines specific cooperation milestones for development, test and verification. Final qualification of the biometric device incorporating IDEX’ SmartFinger Film sensor is expected in 2012.

Based on successful qualification, it is the intent for the two parties to enter into a commercial agreement.
