IDEX at Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2013
IDEX ASA shows SmartFinger fingerprint sensor technology at Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2013.
Oslo, Norway, 21 February 2013: IDEX ASA today announced it will be exhibiting and demonstrating the usability and outstanding performance of its award-winning SmartFinger® fingerprint sensor technology at the Mobile World Congress Exhibition and Conferences 25-28 February 2013 in Barcelona, Spain.
IDEX will demonstrate various mobile phone-related technology implementations such as fingerprint recognition on the Android operating system.
“During the last six months IDEX has experienced a strong interest from the market for its fingerprint technology for use on mobile devices. This confirms the imminent mass adoption of fingerprint biometrics, and represents a game change within the markets of secure mobile payments, mobile banking, online commerce, ID and access,” says Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX. “IDEX is also seeing strong interest for fingerprint biometrics on embedded secure devices as well as contactless biometric cards, cloud security and Internet of Things. IDEX is one of very few players with early, patented, core intellectual property in fingerprint imaging and recognition,” says Bernstein.
SmartFinger Film fingerprint sensor
The patented IDEX SmartFinger sensor is a compact fingerprint swipe sensor, available in various form factors, designed for integration in mobile and card products. It has low power consumption and offers superior biometric performance. The SmartFinger fingerprint swipe sensor can be easily implemented into a variety of applications requiring biometric authentication such as mobile phones, one-time password devices, Smartcards, ID cards, access control devices and biometric tokens. The technology is protected by multiple patent families covering subjects such as sensing principles, sensor component design and image processing algorithms. Combining the extremely small software footprint with a low-resource microcontroller of choice and alternative configurations, IDEX is able to offer a complete biometric authentication solution tailored specifically for mobile phone and card applications.
SmartFinger evaluation and development kits
IDEX will be showing the Smartfinger evaluation kit for customers who wish to evaluate the Smartfinger Film fingerprint sensor. The evaluation kit connects to any Windows PC via a USB port and allows for fingerprint enrollment, verification and match.
IDEX will also be showing the SmartFinger Embedded development kit which enables customers to incorporate their product application with IDEX’s SmartFinger biometric embedded libraries onto a single low-cost Cortex M3 based microprocessor.
