Great interest in IDEX at biometrics trade fair in the US

Oslo, Norway, 30 September 2011: IDEX was among the exhibitors at the BiometricsConsortium Conference and Technology Expo in Tampa, Florida heldthis week. The company received great attention from the approximately 2,000 participants.

At IDEX’ well-attended booth, the company showed its award-winning fingerprint sensor SmartFinger® Film as well as product demonstrators and development kits.

“This is a keyconvention for our industry, and we have made valuable contacts with decision makers in both the corporate and public sectors,” said Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX. “We have also held important meetings with existing customers and partners.”

Biometrics includes technologies for recognising biological patterns, for instance fingerprints. About 400 companies were represented at the conference part of the event, which focused on defense, security, identity management, border controls and electronic commerce.

Bernstein points out that the current financial turmoil in the global economy makes many companies and organisationssharpen their focus on security.

“The severe financial crisis two to three years ago led tomore instances of fraud and security issues in various companies, even connected to their own employees. Now we see the same worries are on the rise again,” Bernstein said.

“In addition, the ongoing terror threat causes secure biometric identification to remain high on the agenda. At the same time one wants a society where personal integrity is respected,” he added.

Biometrics Consortium Conference is supported by USA’sNational Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the National Security Agency (NSA).

“IDEX believes fingerprint will play an increasing role in biometric ID. We have developed a technology that ensures that enrollment, storage of the image and verification can be performed by the same device, for instance a card, with no need for external fingerprint readers of databases. We have over a long periodexperienced increasing interest in our technology and method, and this was confirmed at this week’s fair,” Ralph W. Bernstein, CEO of IDEX, concluded.
