FindBiometrics: IDEX aims for Dynamic Displays for Biometric Cards with Latest Partnership

With fingerprint-scanning payment cards still in the trial phase, IDEX Biometrics appears to already be looking ahead to the next step in technological sophistication with a new partnership. The company has announced that it has teamed up with Visionox, an OLED display maker that IDEX says is China’s largest such firm.
“The goal of the collaboration is to enable cost-effective, feature-rich smart card systems employing both display and biometric technologies,” IDEX explained in a statement, noting that the solution would involve “Visionox’s flexible LTPS TFT backplane technology.” The end result will be a payment card featuring an integrated fingerprint scanner and some kind of dynamic display.
